We stare at each other in silence,
Our eyes showing no sign, no hints,
Our bodies positioned strongly and
upright,
Our backs curved in such a way that
will guard our cards,
Our hands firmly holding our cards,
No one trembles; no one dares to make
a slight move,
For one mistake, the secret pours,
For one wrong blink, someone will
know,
For one small shift in our seats,
someone will be suspicious,
Intensely,
Thinking, thinking, thinking,
Purely relying on game plan and
experience,
Eyes move a bit to the left,
I put my card firmly at the centre,
The median, point zero zero, heart,
One jack, I say,
Their eyes look me up and down,
I try my best to hold myself together,
A statue, nothing moves,
I hold my breath and never let go
until it is someone else’s turn,
No one says anything,
The game keeps moving on,
I’m safe,
I cheated,
No one found out,
I wasn’t caught,
I cheated.
