About...

What.cha.ma.call.it seemed like the perfect word to sum up my thoughts toward launching my very first blog. According to the Oxford Dictionary, the fifteen letter word can be used to refer to a thing whose name one does not know. The word was something like a blessing as it relieved me of my blog naming stress and blog name generator quest. I happily settled with it because I believe the definition of the word can be used to describe creative works and the way in which they may be “unrecalled”, “unknown”, or “unexposed”. It came as a bit of a shock to me to find out that “whatchamacallit” was not just a colloquial word used in our everyday conversations but a legit dictionary term.

I am a person with many thoughts, perhaps even too many thoughts sometimes. This blog can hopefully be a platform for me to span my wings of creativity and fly. Poems, pictures, inspirational quotes, personal philosophies only begin to describe the diverse material I will post in my blog. There will be a ton of “whatchamacallit moments” so don’t say I didn’t warn you! Enjoy to your own discretion.

The Reality of Admissions

“Liz 35341, 30 years, requesting job position at Orange Company, previous experiences include sales associate at Apple Company. She has acquired skills including communicating solidly and being technologically savvy. Liz is very competent with the i-phone 99z and was chair of committee’s assistant for the i-phone century collaboration team for the,” reads the job objectivity section on Liz’s profile.

Ty 26435 and Dana 24919 rampage through the other profiles on the glass screen as they try to ignore the fact that they got assigned to the 300 room instead of the 360 omniscient suite.  The lack of open view of nature bothers Dana 24919. They take sips out of their Moondollar True South Blends and they try to remind themselves that they are working at the most prestigious company in all of Canamerica. Liz 35341’s face shows up on the glass surface and appears to be beaming and her eyes give off the same desperate “choose me, I won’t let you down” look.

Ty 26435 scoffs and mutters, “classic”. He kicks his legs back on the glass ottoman and resorts to gaming on the i-phone 99z. Dana 24919 rolls her eyes; she is left, yet again, to go through the endless pile of profiles, all of which share basically the same credentials. She skims through the profiles and decides to rest her eyes for a little while from the glare of the screen. Again, Dana 24919 complains aloud about the poor quality of every aspect of the 300 domain. Ty 26435 does not seem to hear her as he is caught in an intense game of Angry Tetris Birds XVILL.

It has been two hours and Dana 24919 has only managed to narrow the list down to 946 profiles. She looks down at her watch tattoo and is startled by the buzz of her plastic ear buds. A mechanical voice sounds, “Dana 24919, this is Aly 24388 from the headquarters, Orange Company employment admissions team has raised the hiring numbers from 50 to 75, due to recent population census reports”.

“Thank you, over” answers Dana 24919, only slightly relieved. Liz 36421’s profile appears on the glass screen again with the same eyes of confidence and desperation. Dana 24919 heaves a sigh and gives in to Liz 36421’s profile. She taps the box on the bottom right corner with a sense of satisfaction, knowing that she has just completed the life of another citizen. She tries to not remember the other couple hundreds of others’ she has to decline...
